Prayers Please

Recommended Posts

Please pray for Dal Kratzer and Kate Ash's Paddy.

Last week it became apparent Paddy was having some sort of heart issue. Ultrasound indicated a mass on the heart. Today Paddy had surgery to remove the mass. They removed as much of the mass as they could. But she also has some spots on her lungs. So as soon as Paddy is recovered enough from the surgery she will begin chemo.

Paddy is a very tough girl. But she needs all the help she can get! So if you get a chance please say a prayer for her.

Thank you

Jennifer

A prayer for Paddy:

Heavenly Father, the bond we have with our friends of other species is a wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. They trust in us as we trust in You. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of Yours. Our souls and theirs are on this earth together to share friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and bless these ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have. Please give Your special attention this day to Paddy, who in sickness is in need of Your love and intervention; and grant to her human family the knowledge and comfort of Your love for their beloved Paddy.

Your goodness is turned upon every living thing; Your grace flows to all Your creatures; Your Light touches each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant long and healthy lives to our special animal companions. Bless their relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures. Empower him to watch over our animal friends until they are safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in honoring You forever. Amen.

BustopherJones, I just sent that prayer to our curate, because she is planning our Blessing of the Animals for this October. I think we should add it to the service.

Nancy, if your curate is an animal lover, she might also appreciate having this:

My precious girl passed away, no more to breathe a sound.

I held her for the last time, then entombed her in the ground.

Day and night I wept so much, in tears I thought I'd drown.

I searched my soul for comfort, but no peace therein was found.

In great despair, I hit my knees and then began to pray.

"Father, will I ever see my dog again someday?"

I raised my eyes and saw an angel standing near a gate.

I sensed an inner peace I'd never felt before that day.

The angel smiled and said to me, "Oh ye of little faith!

God sees every bird that falls; He knows your puppy's fate.

I have met your little dog, I saw her pass my way.

Your precious dog is still alive; she just walked through this gate.

Paradise is lovelier than you can comprehend.

No pain or grief, no tears or fears, and life will have no end.

God gave to man His only Son, to cover all his sins.

So why would God withhold from you, your pure and loving friend?”

The angel took me by the hand and said, "Now come with me.

A glimpse of paradise I'll give, to you so you can see."

Through the gate and o'er the Rainbow Bridge we did proceed.

Through green valleys filled with flowers, rolling hills and trees.

“Wow, so this is paradise!” The place was filled with joy.

I saw my puppy playing there, with dogs and cats and toys.

She also had some doggie treats, and food that she enjoyed.

She'd made a lot of new friends there, including girls and boys.

Then I saw a child come near, and hug my little mate.

She said to her, "I love you so," and kissed her on the face.

The angel said, "The child just crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.

Now she needs a little friend, to love and help her play.

God’s love for her would be enough, in that make no mistake.

But in His love, He knew full well, the child would want a mate.

This is why God called your dog unto this splendid place.

God’s entrusted her with your baby, ‘til you pass through the gate."

I pleaded, “May I hug them both?!” The angel answered, “No!

You’d violate a sacred site, and now it’s time to go.”

He led me back across the Bridge and through the gate to home.

He left me there with new-found hope and peace within my soul.

If someone ever asks what happens to a dog that dies,

Just give a gentle smile of joy and look them in the eye.

Take their hand and comfort them and tell them not to cry.

For dogs don’t die, they simply cross a bridge to paradise.

BustopherJones,

All I can say is that prayer and that poem just touched my heart more than anything I've ever read about animals. I lost my sweet Trixi a month ago today. I will be keeping these and I will be making a plaque along with her picture of this poem.

Jennifer,

I will be praying for both of you.

Prayers for Paddy are coming. I'll ask my 4 legged guardian angel, Duncan, to watch over Paddy from heaven. He has been there to help some of my pets this past year and I have no doubt of how hard he is working to keep them all safe.

Steak dinners and lots of love never hurt either  That is what we did for my BC with HSA.
