I am going to the AKC Nationals. They are only 40 miles from meeeee !!!!

I am volunteering on Friday afternoon.

I have never been to the Nationals and do not know how the schedule runs. Do you know the approximate time she will run? (The schedule may be on the AKC website, but I have not checked it. I figured that I would just be flexible once I arrived.)

I do not know about a live feed, but I do know that they are using an electronic scribing system which will project the (unofficial) results in real time on screens around the complex. (in case you are worrying about a computer malfunction, they also have a secondary scribe for scoring the regular way i.e. with paper.)

Best of Luck to Cressa!!!

No biggy, as I realized I wouldn't be able to watch it, anyhow. ;) Working at the shelter all day on Friday (vs. the desk job that allows me to be a bum and sit on the computer all day!) and then a trial all weekend. Oh well. I'll have to wait for friends to post videos on YouTube & facebook. :D

Here are some other ways to keep track of nationals:

http://twitter.com/AKCNACResults

http://www.facebook.com/AmericanKennelClub

http://www.akc.org/events/agility/national_agility_championship/

Supposedly, and I don't know this for sure, they will be "tweeting" after every run (????)

Good Luck to those who are going. We are skipping again this year. Knowing that we qualified will have to be good enough as prior commitments do not allow us to get away. We just qualified for 2012 this past weekend making it the 3rd year in a row that we have qualified by the end of April. Probably won't go again next year either. Such is life :(

Cress is one of the first dogs running in round 1 and 2 in isc on Friday.

Saturday she is in group 1/round 1 and group 4/round 2

Sunday she is group 4/round 3 and won't know about the challangers or finals till we qualified. ;)

Hi,

this is my first post on this board though I have been reading various parts of it for months. I am starting my search for my next agility dog and am leaning toward a small BC. Yes, I understand there are no guarantees on final size :). Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Is this allowed in these boards? I see much discussion on BC breeding issues/registration/working/confirmation lines, etc. But no direction on what are good working lines, where on might start to look, etc. And then there is the challenge of me living in Hawaii. Have looked a numerous rescue sites also. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I forgot about the tweeting - thanks! I won't be able to watch my friends run because of my schedule so will keep up on twitter.

This was sent to me by someone I know who is going:

Here's the relevant info from AKC...

Real-Time Results / Running Order via Twitter

At the conclusion of each dog’s run, we will send a “tweet” to one of five Twitter accounts (one for each ring number). Below is a list of those accounts:

Mickif you might want to try starting a separate topic for your questions so they aren't lost in this topic discussion. As for size, the only guarantee of a small Border Collie is to get an adult. Are you looking to get into a certain height class?

I know nothing about getting a dog to Hawaii, is there quarantine? I imagine your options there would be limited. Perhaps a rescue on the west coast would be able to work with you? I know Pacific NW Rescue always has a lot of dogs, many with a lot of potential: http://www.pnwbcrescue.org/

thanks for the suggestion on opening a new topic, wasn't sure that it would be well received :). Yes, i run 2 dogs in the 20" class, sometimes handle for others (20 - 20plus) and would like to run in a lower class, thus my reason for small.

yes, the quarantine is a real issue and a pain and i often have the pnw site up in the background but never thought to actually contact them for a specific request, good suggestion!

  • 3 months later...

Wow realize I never updated this thingy. Not sure if I should with how late it is??? But here it goes...

Cressa did good like normal. The trial site was awful and I think the majority of people who went got sick(respiratory infection). It rain for the majority of the time. The venue for food was laughable(sorry lexington).

She only qualified and placed in 1 run(jumpers). She had a teeter call in standard(bad call but judges are always right >:P ). And she knocked a bar in hybred. Silly girl was suped up(was reacting to EVERYONE who walked by, her eyes were dazed, my sane Cressa was gone). Ended up buying her a thunder shirt to calm her down and help her relax( and it seem to help her calm down).

Debating if I want to fly to nevada for 2012 agility nationals...

That's not suppose to be a "happy" face but an annoyed face...

And in almost every run she would have been in the top 10 16in dogs. The standard run with a bad call she would have been I think 4th or 5th place.

We did enjoy watching and cheering on everyone for the challanger round and for finals. Luka and marcus were amazing to watch and so was Dylan(the rat terrier).
