rondaph
Bennie the border collies cheeks puff out like a frogs throat when he breaths some times. Is this normal? and why.
Lunar
Zeeke does this. No idea why. But it sure is funny.
Kat's Dogs
Dazzle does that sometimes. She always seem to do it while she is begging for food - I think she knows that she is being cute! I don't really know why but I am sure that it is normal. That is, if anything about Border Collies can be called "normal"
iluvlucy
maybe they are truing to talk in human language
Zoe
Dylan does that too. I don't know why either - it is seldom, but endearing. I thought he was kind of "huffing". Will have to make a mental note of exactly when he does it now. I also assumed it was "normal" !
Pat W.
Out of my 3 only my Ashe does this he always sends me into giggles when he does it. He just looks so cute doing it
nancy
Fergie does that to warn Maggie that she's getting too close. Especially if Mag thinks Ferg's doggie treat is more interesting than her kitty one.
WyoBC
I used to play with a border that did that when he wanted you to throw something. He would drop it and look up at you and puff his cheeks out. It was funny. God Bless
SoloRiver
Do you mean cheeks, or whisker pads? Dogs' whiskers will stand straight up when they are excited or intense about something, which makes their little faces look puffed out and funny. WyoBC
No he would blow air out his mouth when it was closed to make his cheeks and whisker pads puff out. It was funny.
Catu
That could be an "almost bark" too. As they want to bark you to do something, but trying to be polite.
