Puppies for Christmas...
iluvlucy replied to SincereArtisan's topic in General Border Collie Discussion
i know this is entirely different, but 3 years ago i gave my oh a puppy for Christmas. was not a problem because he had been asking for a dog for about 6 mos. our other dog had been put down and he felt like he wanted another dog. he was so surprised it was funny to see. lucy weighed only 7/10ths of a pound and i had fed her good and put her in a gift bag. in that case she was well accepted as agift. he immediately began to take her everywhere he went. now i have a ? although she is supposed to be his dog, she seems to prefer me to him. does anyone else have -

Some one call the nice men in the white coats
iluvlucy replied to Pat W.'s topic in General Border Collie Discussion
oh well better to be driven there by dogs than by the doctors. i told one of the nurses yesterday that one of my drs (i have 5) needs to recommend a head shrinker for me because the drs are driving me crazy. if one says black, the other says white, so which one do u listen to? -
before my oldest started school, he had a coloring book with the names of the colors to clor the picture printed in. he couldn.t read the colors so i printed the names on the back cover of the book and put the color in crayon beside it. he was able then to follow the colors in the book. maybe this could be used to teach the dogs the names of colors.

[!" OTOH, today I got to hold a baby skunk! Some local breeders brought their baby to the reptile show I had a booth at today, and the wee thing was SO sweet and snuggly. (Scent glands had been removed, of course.) i thought a law had been passed rohibiting the removal of scent glands

i began thinking the other day about how many words a dog can recognize. i thought it may be a fun topic to see the different words our dogs know and understand. ifeel sorry for the folks who have no idea that dogs canbe taught to know different words. just off the top of my head here are a few my dogs know: naps bedtime dinner breakfast daddy is home uncle dean is here ice cream cheese i'm sure there are more, but that's just the ones that come to mind.

Sleeping at the foot of the bed

glad to see that i'm not the only one woth poor sleeping position -
Lady as some of u may remember was a stray which i adopted. she has a peculiar behavior which i don't understand. i'm sure most of you have seen the commercial on animal planet where the doorbell rings and the cat answers the door to the bloodhound and they go looking for the cat's litterbox. well when the doorbell rings Lady goes tearing out of the house. its the doorbell that triggers this reaction. does anyone else see this behavior in their dogs. or can anyone tell me why she may be reacting this way?

my question---------------------how can anyone not love a dog??????????? -
Yup. that looks just like lucy's belly. i had never seen a belly with that much hair before. was just curious if anyone else had hairy bellied dogs. brr that icicle sounds really cold. hope yoou defrosted it for the poor little man soon!!! LOL

Lucy Lou has hair completely covering her belly. I have never seen this in a dog before. Does your dog have hair on his/her belly. If my camera wasn't broke I would take pictures to show you.
