Jack & Co.
Julie, I, for one, would miss your logical, well-thought-out posts, so I hope you won't abandon us here in the General Forum. I've come to count on your excellent advice and practical take on things.

Woodenlion
We have lost enough of the "old timers" so to speak Julie...Don't go running off all peeved. The more sweetness and light this board gets the less I learn. I really miss the original gang who used to post here. Toni
Shetlander
Julie, I'd really miss your posts, too!
BustopherJones
I'm confused. I don't recall accusing anyone of being judgmental; I simply chose to express a differing viewpoint, and in fact was careful to recognize the good intentions of those who were offering advice. I am sorry if this offended anyone; that was not my intent. With that said, Julie, while we have had disagreements in the past, I would second the feelings of those who feel that you are a valuable contributor to the general section, with extensive wisdom to share with us. Maralynn
FWIW, I think the "if you can't afford it now" question was a very good one to raise. The purchase price of an animal is most often one of the lesser expenses of owning one.
nancy
That's why I checked the profile of the original poster. And the problems she's encountered seemed a tad unfair to me. If the brother had been honest and the mother hadn't unexpectedly demanded money, she'd have been fine. Not flush, but fine. I think the questions were reasonable. But I think the kid is also trying to be reasonable. I'd sure like to get my hands on a brother who took gas money to transport a crate and didn't transport the crate. Am I the only one bothered by that? And by the fact that the rest of the family doesn't seem bothered? Maybe the profile is 6 years out of date? I just go by what I can find. Maralynn
Well, I guess the reason I wan't to bothered by that is because I could see one of my brothers making an honest mistake and doing the same thing. But I know he'd pay me back when he got the chance. I don't know if that was the same situation here or not. As far a parent demanding money, before I would judge that I would want to know why. I know in my family we've bought things through my parents (on a credit card, or they picked it up, etc), then once a month or two, mom does the books and we'd get a bill.
