Sadie's law
I'm new to all the BC pedigree stuff. I was looking at my dog's papers this evening. Can someone tell me what "Ettrick" means?? I asked on "Google," but it didn't tell me anything. Another question . . . what does "IMP." mean, like Imp.Don or Imp.Meg?? Sorry - this is probably a kindergarden question to most of you. Thanks for any responses. Lisa
Alicia
I believe Imp means Imported but I'm not sure about Ettrick. I'm new to this too but that's what I deciphered when researching Dally's ped
Alicia
I looked up "Ettrick Border Collie" on Google and it seems that it may be a prefix of the farm/breeder
Eileen Stein
"Imp." means imported, usually from the UK. "Ettrick" is the kennel prefix used by Jack Knox, who now lives in Missouri but who comes originally from the Ettrick valley in Scotland. If a dog's name is preceded by "Ettrick," it means it was bred by Jack and/or Kathy Knox.
Sadie's law
I have 2 dogs that have "Ettrick Meg" as their Dam. The parents of Meg are Ettrick Tweed & Peg, both owned by Jack & Kathy Knox. Thanks for the info. Lisa
Rebecca, Irena Farm
It sounds like the breeder of your dogs would be familiar with the Knoxes. Try talking to him or her!
bcnewe2
I am familar with Peg and Tweed....Very nice dogs! Tweed is Kathy's dog and I'm not sure but I think Peg is/was Jacks. You can see Tweed and Kathy did quite well in '06 national finals on the UBSCHA website. When I first started in BC's I couldn't figure out why lots of people had Imp. on their dogs papers. I thought is was a cute name. It also happens to be the name of the company that I work for, which has nothing to do with Imported dogs...I was disapointed that Jazz didn't have the cute name Imp on her papers! Sadie's law
I checked out the USBCHA website. That's neat to think my dogs' grandpa is doing all that!!
Loretta
I have a three year old female that is out of Ettrick Tweed x Peg. If that is the correct Peg Peg is by Ettrick Scot and Patrick Shannahan's "Hannah". Loretta
