karrie
I got this from smallpawsrescue.com. They had button for up coming Dog ( puppy mill)Auction. I clicked and got an education. Some of these breeds I'd never even heard of. I'm posting this in case somone has affliates and I know some of us have mentioned a few of these breeds. I was just in this area last summer. I'd been in that past and loved the shops. But this summer all the shops were so commerical and low and behold there was a pet shop. Yes, with pups. Just recall small breeds were there. Kat's Dogs
Wow, that is a lot of breeds. I have heard of them all before but some of them are REALLY rare.
Sue R
I hate to say it but puppy milling is big business among the Amish (and, of course, they aren't the only ones that do this). The thought of this auction (and the conditions that produced these poor pups) is nauseating. Thank goodness the demand for Border Collies isn't enough for them to make this list. Barb Scott
That said, we purchased a smooth coated BC from an Amish farm in MI. Zip's mom was their farm dog (brought their cows in and out etc.) and Zip is one of our best tempered and healthiest BCs! I don't consider the people we bought Zip from as puppy millers! The Amish Community in MI is on the whole well thought of; they are hard workers and take care of their own. Please don't make generalizations... sea4th
Walnut Creek is smack in the middle of Amish country here in Ohio, part of some towns along or not too far off Rt. 39. They are huge tourist attractions. So now they opened a pet store that sells "country bred puppies". Bastards. I was down there at a bulk food store and a pick up pulled in with a box of Schipperke pups---go them for resale from a local farm. They raise them like chickens. It's part of their economy.
