bskeeter
We heard/felt the sonic boom here at work and watched the landing on the big screen TV. It was a beautiful landing. Glad everything went well and everyone is home safe and sound.

Meg's mum
I'm counting their lucky stars. YAY!!!!!!! I've been listenting to an audio version of late physicist Richard Feynmen's "What do you care what others think". He details the failure modes for the "system" of NASA in the Challenger explosion (sadly repeated in Columbia's situation.) The sheer inexorable unfolding of the mechanism of bureaucracy public and private is like a loose weapon sometimes. I'm an apologist for NASA. I can't bear to be disloyal, but I do something for every astronaut, and have since Apollo 1 - something that I don't do for any one else. I pray... almost continuously until they get back. There is just soooooo much at stake.
IronHorse
With only 16 more planned missions before the retirement of the space shuttle fleet,if you have never experinced the launch of one its a sight to behold. I would reccomend trying to plan a trip just for the experince of such awesome power.
