Becki's Boys
Jack and Star were spayed and neutered yesterday. Everything went great. Star is being perfect, but Jack won't stop licking. Is there anything good and safe to put on the sutures that will discourage this?
Shadows Mom
Ask your vet about bitter apple cream, works like a charm! Heather =)
BustopherJones
In the past, our vet has recommended jalapeno-flavored oil placed around the sutures; it is imperative, however, NOT to put the oil on the sutures, but only in the vicinity around them. I can assure you that it worked immediately.
CollieKat
If he is licking a lot then I would suggest using an E-collar so that he doesn't pull out his sutures and have to go back in again.
Becki's Boys
Yeah. We're gonna pick up one of those E-collars at the vet today. Hopefully it won't freak him out too much. Thank you for the advice everyone. I know I can always count on these boards.
Catu
As emergency you can also put on them a T-Shirt. You make holes for the rear legs and tie it in the back to keep it stretched and prevent the dogs to pull it up.
BustopherJones
I would suggest using an E-collar When Annie underwent surgery for an injury, we tried an e-collar. That's when we really discovered how smart a BC is; she was able to get around the collar, and actually get it off.

That's what I'm kind of worried about Jack is pretty crafty and he hates having strange things around his neck.
Samantha J
I am not to fond of the cone collar. Luckily when Holly got spayed the t-shirt idea worked and she left them alone whilst it was on. I have posted this before but here is her in it.

I would give the t-shirt ago.
