mum24dog
A dog that is misbehaving in this house is likely to be called by the name of the one that misbehaves most often, whether it is the right one or not. The same applied to my children. The "naughty" name becomes generic.
Gideon's girl
My mom always went down the list of childrens' names and even got to the dog before she could find my name. My whole family has inherited this trait.
Jumpin Boots
^^^Me too; I'm the baby of 7...I was never called by my name; irritated me like crazy when I was a teen, but I got over it. I have always been able to recognize dogs or horses far easier than people. I won't necessarily know what their name is, but will remember what they've done, especially if it's been worth remembering for impressiveness or lack there of. Root Beer
I have a student named Tessa. I have to be really careful not to sing out her name "Tess-ssa!" as I often to when I am talking to my dog Tessa!!
emilyfalk
I am definitely in the same category as far as not really "knowing" my fellow triallists. While I am naturally more inclined to know their dogs and their runs, maybe I should try harder to know *them.* To develop more interest in peers would not take any respect away from the work, and it may provide some further insight to the team we see on the field. After all, the dog can't raise, train, and compete by itself. Just thinking out loud.
DeltaBluez Tess
Apparently when I ran Maid in an Open course, I called her Nan.....and she listened...... Sigh......
Pam Wolf
I have a friend who named her youngest son after a dog In all honesty when she got the dog, she said she wanted to name him "Luke" cause if she ever had another boy she would call him "Luke" sure enough a couple years later the boy child came along and yes, his name is "Luke"
