Dixie_Girl
I really like the one that says, we give what we can spare, they give their all. But I also like the one about if dogs don't go to heaven I wanna go where they go. And the one about them loving you more than they love themselves is great. And.........oh dang, who am I kidding, I love them all! Thanks Lance!
Rebecca, Irena Farm
Being a lit hound, I love this one by Sir Walter Scott (1825): Recollect that the Almighty, who gave the dog to be companion of our pleasures and our toils, hath invested him with a nature noble and incapable of deceit. Joe Anne
I agree with Dixie Girl! they are all good. Reading these, I think of another saying, that I almost totally apply to my critters, especially when dealing with the pain of losing one: Tis better to have loved and lost...than never to have loved at all! I rerun that in my head ALL the time, specially when I have a very sick pupper! It's like having 2 little voices on your shoulders, one saying "never again, it hurts too much to see them sick, or when they cross the rainbow bridge" pain beyond belief, then the other voice is totally cracking up laughing... knowing and saying.. yea right... you know you'll do it again, and again and............................I Do and I Will
Michael in Tx
If I remember my Sir Walter Scott correctly, in "Lady of the Lake", he wrote about Lufra, a dog belonging to the hero, Douglas. After calling her "the swiftest hound in all the north," he continues, "Lufra, mighty Lufra! Who, from Douglas's side N'er threat nor bribe Could 'er divide!" My apologies for any misquote. --Michael
