Blood in Urine

uh--the dog's, not mine.

 

It's not one of the bc girls, but Juta my CO, who is in the last third of her heat cycle. I let her out to go potty just now and there was a lot of blood in her urine. UTI? My main vet is out of town for the week, but I do have 500 mg. capsules of cephalexine that I could start her on and see if it clears up.

 

She is acting normally and her appetite knows no bounds, as usual.

 

Does this sound pretty much on track?

 

(after last year, I'm freaking that it might be cancer of some sort). Couldn't handle losing another dog right now.

You've been through so much emotionally, Vicki, that this can't be anything terrible like cancer. This must be something very simple. I don't know what it could be, but it can't be anything real bad like cancer.

When my dog goes out of heat she gets urinary tract infections, and they give her antibiotics. Is she using the rest room a lot more more frequently or multiple times when you take her out? and the blood is a symptom as well. It probably isn't anything too serious but I would take her to the vet to check it out.

Hi KT,

I put her on cephelexin 2 x a day for 10 days. It cleared up within 48 hours.

 

I hope to have her spayed in the near future.
