Liz P
What are high % Gotland breeding ewes selling for in the USA? I am looking at next years ewe lambs being offered for sale. Ram will be 100% Gotland, imported semen. Ewes will be 87% pure, making the lambs I buy greater than 90% pure.

Liz P
Thanks! Saw some at the sheep auction yesterday. They were not for sale, but on display to show what the farm produces. I really liked the ram; he had the perfect fleece for making quality pelts. The ewes were nice as well, but their wool was finer and not quite like the fleece on the pelts I've seen being imported from pure Gotlands in Europe. I've tentatively reserved 5 ewe lambs and maybe a ram lamb as well.
gcv-border
I recently came across this website http://www.stansborough.co.nz/home/page.aspx describes a 'subtype' of the Gotland grey bred in New Zealand. Their wool was used for the capes in Lord of the Rings and other movies. Jovi
