Malvie
I've had to resort to the low-cost clinic (shots, plus discount on the heartworm preventative). Last time I took just Lucy and Ethel to their "regular" vet, the bill for shots for the two dogs plus a supply of Frontline was $300. I can't imagine what he gets now (that was two years ago). Thank God my girls are healthy (so far) and haven't needed the vet. And, vet services across the board are drastically higher in Houston than they were in Arkansas. My full-service, excellent vet in Arkansas was less than the "low-cost" vet here.
kelpiegirl
I found the estimate I received from my vet for 1) A dental 2) A spay. Here is the breakdown: 1) Dental exam and cleaning: $344.20 2) IV catheter Anesthesia/Surgery: $42.15 3)IV fluids: $19.30 4) Dental xrays (whole mouth): $70.60 5) Adult extraction (she has some worn down teeth, # is 1-3): $56.25-$168.75 6) N/C for gingival flap surgery, and suture tooth socket 7) Suture pacl: $12.95-$25.90 8) Rimadyl: 0-$8.25 9) Injection (pain): )4-$39.45 10) Local anesthesia: 0$-$44.09 TOTAL: $637.24 ( I used low end #s) SPAY: 1) K9 spay, 30-60 lb: $201.30 2) Add fee if over 7 months: $25.00 3) Additional gas anesthesia: $17.00-$34.00 4) Pain injection: $39.45 5) Rimadyl: $8.50 TOTAL: $308.25 - this is less than I posted, because they did a spay/dental estimate.
