chad
I've recently concluded, sadly, that I'm not going to be able to raise sheep. So I've decided to go with - wait for it - chickens! Broilers, not layers. Easy to handle, from farm to dinner in about 8 weeks. I'm going to need plenty of advice. Anybody here raise chickens for meat, and is willing to have his/her brain picked on a routine basis?
Howdyjabo
I assume since you are talking about eight weeks to grow them out---- that you are going into the commercial chicken industry. I have been growing commercial chickens for 20+ years-- with regrettably no end in sight.
Bounce
I've had broilers for about 3 years now. I just had some girls who were too small to send in the fall so I kept them over. They are huge, monsters now. I don't have the heart to send them now - any White Rock that can survive a Canadian winter deserves to live out her life on pasture.
