Dal & Mad's Mom
I'm trying the switching foods program and my most recent switch was from Canidae to Premium edge. I have Prarie for the next switch (great Buy) but, they are going through the premium edge much slower. Do dog food eating quantites differ? bc friend
I think so because different dog foods have different calorie counts. For example, I feed EVO but only feed about 1/2-2/3 of what I fed when I fed Pro Plan or Authority Harvest. JMO
Rebecca, Irena Farm
Always compare the kcals when you switch. Not only can you accidentally waste food if you feed too much, but you can also cause health problems if you underfeed, or if you overfeed (not just weight gain, but digestive upset). Dal & Mad's Mom
I will always feed more if Dal or Maddie seems hungry but, I have noticed there is some left with the switch and it's getting spilled so wasted.
nancy
If the food has corn meal, you have to feed more. They can't digest that so it's just waste - quite literally. And I bet they count the calories in the corn meal, even though they go straight through the dog.
