Susan in Pittsburgh Posted August 11, 2006 Report Share Posted August 11, 2006 My Chelsea has calluses on her front elbow areas that are rough. She scratched one and caused it to bleed. It is better, but is there anything I can rub on them to soften the skin or make them less rough or is this natural? Thanks for any suggestions! Journey Posted August 11, 2006 Report Share Posted August 11, 2006 You might try Corona, it's a horse product that comes in a tube, yellow with red writing I think... or bag balm (I have used them both but I watch that they don't eat it off!). My older dogs have the same elbow skin, though not so dry they bleed. I think it a normal thing if you look at how much they lay on the elbow when they are lying down.
