Most, however, just shave the dog's belly and leave the thick coat on their backs to help insulate form the sun. This won't really work with Rae since she is smooth coated. I really hope you guys find something that works for her! here's a picture of Gonzo, from yesterday at the Berkeley Marina dog park.
