GentleLake
Congratulations on your pup and welcome to the Boards. I'm short on time right now but would like to suggest you do a search of the archives, where these issues have been discussed often and at length. Some useful search terms might include "cars", LAT, desensitization and counter-conditioning. I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice by starting there, and then people can come in with more specific answers.
gcv-border
Also, this section of the Boards is specifically for training dogs to work livestock. If you re-post in the "General Border Collie Discussion" section, you will probably receive many more answers. Good Luck.
