elizabeth1975
I have a 3 year old Border Collie. He becomes extremely nervous and unsettled when we have visitors in the house, He will lick our kitchten floor and whine constantly until they leave. Any tips would be much appreciated
ajm
This doesn't really fall in the area of sheep dog training, but I 'd put him outside, so as not to annoy your visitors. Amanda
Eileen Stein
This forum is for questions about training dogs to work livestock. If you have a general training question regarding pet dogs, please post it in the General Border Collie Discussion forum. Thanks. I will move it to that forum now. Gloria Atwater
Now that we're moved to the General discussion ... I would say to put your dog somewhere that he doesn't have to worry about visitors. Does he have a crate? Perhaps you could make him a place in another room, the bedroom or something, where he could retire with a chewie or other toy and be "safe" from the upset of people in the house. Or if he has a good back yard, just let him go out and sleep in dog house or other "safe" spot.It sounds like the bustle and energy of guests is simply over his threshold of tolerance, so what you can do is give him a comfortable, cozy place to be where he's away from it all and doesn't have to deal with the stress.Best of luck!~ Gloria
