INU
I don't know how many of you are professional dog trainers but if you are, how did you become one? If you attended school, how long does it take and what does it take to become a good trainer?
Pam Wolf
There are alot of different ideas as to what makes up a 'good' trainer'. but education certainly helps--this doesn't mean college, but a thorough knowledge of trianing. Knowledge of the theory as well as the method is the best IMO. That coupled with extensive knowledge of dog behaviour and a variety of methods would make for a good trainer. However, the 'great' trainers all have 'something else', a quality which enables them to read a dog and acess the problem and apply the proper technique instantly. I am not sure one can learn this.
