Donald McCaig
Dear Fellow Doggers, America is less dog friendly than Britain and most of Europe. The test is access - where we can take our mannerly dog(s). One such place is on trains and europe has proved there is no good reason to disallow them. Pending legislation in Congress might change that. Do write your congressman urging him to support the Pets on Trains Act. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/reliable-source/wp/2013/11/21/congressmen-use-adorable-dogs-to-persuade-amtrak-to-allow-pets-on-trains/ Donald McCaig
highway61
Its a big country. I wonder how many Americans realize we still have passenger trains?
Oko
This is exactly why it's nice to live near boston-my local trains and buses allow dogs. Would love to see this become more widespread.
GentleLake
I see that Amtrak is doing a trial of allowing dogs and cats on a run in Ill. But if your dog is over 20 lbs. you're SOL. http://www.nbcnews.com/business/travel/all-aboard-amtrak-now-accepting-pets-some-trains-n91641
Nanda & Nelson
I am from the Netherlands where you can take your dog everywhere. From train to bus to restaurant (ok the last one can be slightly odd). I think it is a huge advantage when you can take your pet on transit - if I would be able to do so, I would get rid of my car right away!
