I've often wondered about this look...

I sometimes just looking at pictures of puppies, but once and a while I come across pups that look like the picture above. The pink around the eyes and on the nose has always made me feel as if the puppy is sickly. Is there any truth to this, or are puppies that look like this (at least potentially) healthy?

It's just the color of their skin; it isn't an indication of health or lack thereof. White hair usually grows from pink skin. Mottled noses often fill completely in with the darker color.

When there is excessive white there can be a lack of pigmentation. With this particular pup I'd want to check the hearing.

My Will has a lot of pink skin that shows around the eye on the white half of his face. This isn't the best shot, but you can kind of see what I mean. It's totally normal, as Julie said.

Now I may be biased but I've never considered Sprite to be sickly.

Now (@8mos)she looks like the pic in my sig. She is DNA N/N & clear CERF & is BAER Normal.
