Dixie_Girl
http://msn.foxsports.com/horseracing/story...NHPHCP>1=9012 He just couldn't overcome the problems he had. At least he is not in pain anymore.
nowwown
How sad. He inspired so many; he was a magnificent and wonderfully spirited horse that captured the imagination and attention of our nation and world. RIP, Barbaro. painted_ponies
How very sad. Y'know, I haven't been able to watch a race since. Thanks for letting us know.
WyoBC
Yeah I just heard that. It's sad, but I know he's better now. No pain over there.

Guest pax
Better than being stuck in a box for the rest of his life in pain. He's alternated being in a sling finding it difficult to breath or being on legs that hurt. When you start mucking around long term like that, it's really rough to manage all the consequences of every intervention. I had a horse the Virginia Tech pinned together in almost exactly the same way and having had that experience once, I would not wish it on any horse for any reason. You that understand the joy of watching a good dog do the job it was bred for can understand what being immobile did to that poor creature who was born to move. I am relieved for his sake. nancy in AZ
If only his death would put a spotlight on the consequence of racing three year olds and the rate at which race horses breakdown, perhaps his tragedy will not have been in vain.
