NOTICE: When baking for your dog, always be sure to check all ingredients (especially prepared foods, i.e. baby food, bouillon) that are added, to insure that onions are not present. Onions, and chocolate can be very toxic to dogs! Dog Peanut Treats 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour 3/4 cup all purpose flour 1 1/4 Tbsp baking powder 1 1/4 cup peanut butter 1 cup milk Combine flour and baking powder in a large bowl. Combine milk and peanut butter in a separate bowl and mix until smooth. Gradually stir peanut butter mixture into flour in the larger bowl. Knead dough by-hand and roll-out on floured surface to desired thickness. Cut-out treats. Place aluminum foil on cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes at 400o . Cool before storing. Note: cooking time may vary depending upon thickness. Frozen Fruit Treats Lots of Fruit Fruit Juice Low-fat Yogurt Honey Cinnamon Place any fruit you favor in a blender. Some great ones are strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelons, apples, peaches, or bananas. Add some unsweetened juice (your choice - pineapple is good). Add a little low-fat yogurt for thickening, honey for sweetening, and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Puree until well blended and smooth. Freeze in little cups or ice cube trays and serve as "popsicles". Icy Paws • 2 (32oz.) plain or vanilla yogurt • 1 small (8oz.) can of tuna in water • 2 tsp. garlic power • 24 3 oz. plastic cups (not paper) Open yogurt, if they are full to the top use a spoon & scoop out one cup. (these will be frozen as plain yogurt). Put half of the can of tuna in each yogurt container add the garlic power (1 tsp. in each) & stir thoroughly. Use a spoon & scoop the mixture into the cups. Place on a tray & freeze overnight. Makes about 24 treats. VARIATIONS: Natural Flea Preventation: Mix in garlic powder, brewers yeast & fennel seed. Veggie Delight: Mix in cooked peas or other vegetables. Chicken Icy Paws: use canned chicken instead of tuna Potassiam Boost: Add in a mashed banana. Fruity Cupcakes 2 bananas strawberries apples grapes 1 tsp vanilla 3 cups flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1 egg 3 tbsp corn syrup Heat oven at 350 degrees Mash Fruit Mix all ingredients in a bowl, WELL bake in cupcake pans for 20 minutes. Peanut Butter Delight 1 1/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 c. 100% Natural Creamy Peanut Butter 1 Tsb. Honey 1/2 cup skim milk Combineall wet ingredients and slowly add dry ingredients. Make a dough and knead for about two minutes. Let dough rest for about 10 minutes.Roll out dough ON a greased cookie sheet, roll out as thin as you like (about 1/2" thick), then with a pizza cutter run through the spread dough and make little squares or big squares, I make mine about (2 x 2), depending on the size of your dog, or use a cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees F.for about 45 minutes, then shut off the heat and let cool in the oven overnight, this way they will be good and crunchie.Store in an air tight container. Whole Wheat Chicken Biscuits 1/2 cup cornmeal 6 1/2 tbsp oil 2/3 cup chicken broth{I prefer clear} 2 cup whole wheat flour Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together, kneading the dough when all is mixed. Cut into any cutter you would like. Bake for 25-30 min., depending on the oven. When finished let cool. Healthy Veggie Cookies 1 1/2 c. Whole Wheat Flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 Tbs. dry Parsley 3 Tbs. Mazola Oil 1 c. Grated Carrots 1 egg 1/8 cup milk Combineall wet ingredients and slowly add dry ingredients. Make a dough and knead for about two minutes. Let dough rest for about 10 minutes.Roll out dough ON a greased cookie sheet, roll out as thin as you like (about 1/2" thick), then with a pizza cutter run through the spread dough and make little squares or big squares, I make mine about (2 x 2), depending on the size of your dog, or use a cookie cutter. Glazed Chicken Treats 4 cups flour 1 1/4 cup cornmeal 1 small can of chicken and rice soup 1 egg 2 tbsp vegg. oil mix together, (make sure dough is not too sticky or too dry), knead, roll out 1/8 thick,cookie cut, place on greased cookie sheet. 30-40 min is fine however...and so they don't crumble, use this popular glaze: 1 egg, 2 tbsp milk and a dash of garlic to free them of fleas! Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Treats 1-32oz. container of vanilla yogurt 1 cup of peanut butter 1. Put the paenut butter in a microwave safe dish and microwave until melted. 2. Mix the yogurt and the melted peanut butter in a bowl. 3. Pour mixture into cupcake papers and freeze. Frozen Doggie Yums 1 cup water 1 cube chicken or beef bullion (dog's favorite) 4 small pieces of chicken or beef Dissolve bullion in water and tear meat into smaller pieces about 1/2 inch squares. Freeze for about 12 hours or until solid. Great for hot days! Dogs Long Life 4 Cups Flour 1 Cup Olive Oil 2 teaspoons minced Garlic 2 Tablespoons Dried Garlic ? cup Honey ? cup Water Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees. Mix ingredients together. Roll out then cut cookies. Put on greased pan. Bake until golden brown, 5 to 10 minutes. Dog Cheese Treats 4 cups whole wheat flour 3/4 cup vegetable oil 3 tsp. garlic powder 2 eggs, beaten 1 1/4 cup shredded cheese 1 1/4 cup milk Combine flour and garlic powder in a large bowl. Gradually stir-in vegetable oil, cheese, beaten egg, milk and blend well. Roll-out dough to desired thickness. Cut-out treats and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 25 minutes at 400o .
