Need a high protein lower cost Dog food

Recommended Posts

We got some bags of food at the food bank for the rescue dogs that turned out to be for dogs with kidney disfunction. So low protien higher carbs and corn well it made them sick(diarrhea) when mom fed it straight.

Not wanting to be wasteful we need a recommendation that the rescue can afford to mix with this stuff. In the past we always bought candiae on sale to supplement shortfalls but, lately it's outpriced itself esp with the quality issues.

It sounds like people like the kirklands brand but, we dont have costco only sams and bjs.

Where are you located? Is there a Kent dealer near you? check out www.nativedogfood.com, here in Iowa (Theisens) have level 2 & 3 on sale for about $26.00 / 40 lbs, our workindg dogs are doing great on 1/4 lb to 1/2 lb of level 4, making it quite economical. Regular price is between $30 and $36, when I compared it to inexpensive foods it was still a value and we were able to feed a better quality that made small firm stool with little odor.

I use Diamond naturals chicken and rice no corn. It cost me about $24 for 40 lbs. They make quite a few different varieties so you could look for the most protien. The only diamond I don't like is the maintinance yellow bag.
