borderlicious
We are in Northern Idaho for the summer and my Border Collie has landed himself a job as a goose removal dog. The place we are staying at has a huge problem with geese getting on the grass and eating/eliminating all over the beach. My dog gets the general idea of how to chase them off - stalk up and down the beach, give them a good chase if they get on the grass, and return to me when I call him. He definitely shows potential for this kind of work (which shocked me. I have never had the chance to see him work purely on instinct and was beginning to think that he didn't have much!) but I know virtually nothing about it. My dog is doing all the work. Does anyone have any info on this? Is there any special training required?
