Johnson
I have a large problem with mosquitoes and was wondering if my water trough is contributing. I have two lambs and a hand full of chickens that drink from it. It's a 30 gallon plastic barrow that has been cut down to about a third the size, about 8 gallons when filled. I have an auto water feed to keep it full. While I have read that mosquitoes breed in standing water (one week stagnant) is there enough flow in a water trough to keep the mosquito breeding at bay? If the amount of water that is consumed daily is needed, I'll turn the auto fill off and give an estimate. Is there a safe additive to add to the water? nancy
I think there was a thread about this quite a while back. As I remember, goldfish was the most interesting answer.

Here's probably your best bet. http://www.marchbiological.com/L/mosquito_control.html
