BCMomma
Any help out there for nose bleeds? Our Lili is currently being treated for GME with chemo shots every three weeks and a low dose of prednisone but has these nose bleeds periodically. Most time it is a few drops here and there but the other night is was a small pool of blood on her bed where she was sleeping. She has facial paralysis on her right side from the GME but other than that she acts and looks just fine. We are taking her on Friday for a CT scan on her nose area. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks! Debbie Crowder-BaaramuLuke
Gosh, I know how you feel. I had my first BC go through horrible IMHA, with all the steroids, and he developed the nosebleeds and facial paralysis as well. I'd wake up and his bed looked like the big shoot out scene in Taxi Driver. All I can offer you is anecdotal-Calvin had nasal endoscopy, and the internal doctor dislodged a large clot (looking for tumors) that scared her to death. After that, he didn't have nearly as bad nosebleeds, but they'd pop up from time to time. Eventually they subsided altogether, but after that, he regressed to other problems. I lost him a few monthes after that. I feel for you, good luck with treaments.
Liz P
I would definitely have a talk with your vet about them. I've never seen a nose bleed in a dog turn out to be nothing.
MaggieDog
I wonder if it checks out ok if nasal spray would work. I know my nose bleeds when it gets too dry and I bet the chemo drugs are messing with the body enough to possibly screw up the fluid balance. BCMomma
Thanks for the comments one and all. The doctors have been aware of the situation since the first time it happened. They didn't see anything on her first scan but it was only a partial one anyhow so that is why we are doing another scan on Friday. They didn't do a full head scan including the nose when they were trying to figure out what was causing her other problems. She never had bloody nose problems till after the prednisone started and her 48 hour chemo drip session - so who knows. Hopefully it's something they can take care of quickly! I do appreciate everyone's replies - this is our first time with such an illness and we are at a loss. Thank goodness for the internet and forums such as this. I'll keep you posted after the scan on Friday. Thanks again!
