Eileen Stein
The statistical results of DNA testing for the first quarter of 2005 were released by Optigen: Total Border Collies tested - 860 Normal - 609 Carrier - 239 Affected -12 The Affected rate (1.3%) is in line with expectations, given the likelihood that dogs already known to be Affected would not have been submitted for testing, except in the rare case where an owner would want DNA confirmation. The Carrier rate (27.8%) is exactly what was expected. The Normal rate is 70.l%.
