G_Davis
I'm wondering if anyone can share how they have treated sprains in their dogs, specifically ankle in this case (or wrist??). Thanks.
haflingerrider
Crate rest and trying to keep her quite. With our Gem, a very active BC, this was the hard part. This was after the vet confirmed that nothing was broken. Took a good while if I remember correctly. Good luck!
graciesmom
I haven't had to deal with sprained ankles but a couple of times a sprained shoulder and the only thing I would add is a baby aspirin for the pain. Baby aspirin is gentle on the stomache and seems to work pretty consistently. hope your baby heals quickly. C
MiaP
Mia just sprained her ankle a couple of weeks ago. The vet gave her anti-inflamatories for the swelling and she seemed to bounce back in about a week. I wouldn't recommend baby aspirin though, because it numbs the pain and if they can't feel it, they could injure themselves worse. At least that's what my vet told us anyway. As for getting them to relax, it's a chore. Try and leave them in a crate for awhile during the day to move the recovery a long a bit quicker. It seemed to help with Mia. Good luck, Gimmie Sue and Mia
