rustypup
Rusty (male)has been extremely restless and naughty. Although he is only 8 weeks old, he constantly nips at your hand when you pat him, doesn't stop nipping even when saying "ouch" loudly, clapping or saying "no". Is this normal puppy behaviour? Our previous BC (female)did not do this at 8 weeks of age.
Sue R
Maybe the title to this thread should be, "Normal Pup" because Rusty's behaviors sound very normal for a young Border Collie pup. Your first pup may have quite a different personality and been a different experience for you. At eight weeks of age, Rusty is still very much a baby and it will take time and patience to teach him what is and what isn't acceptable behavior. It may not easy but it will be worth it to lay the foundations for a happy lifetime together with Rusty. Use the search function at the top of the page to find threads dealing with similar problems as you are experiencing, and with other "challenges" that you encounter as your relationship with your dog grows. Best wishes!
Kat's Dogs
I agree, normal pup! At only 8 weeks, they really don't know much yet - after all, how much did we know when we were 8 weeks old!! Give it time, and some little puppy sized corrections and Rusty should get over it. Miztiki
Yes, sounds normal to me also, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Do a search here and on Google with keywords like "puppy, bite, biting, nip, nipping" etc. If you look at the thread called "two problems" in this section you will see that the poster is having the same problem.
