Mark your calendars and join us for this exciting event! The KHSI Sale brings together some of the nation's top quality breeding stock from around the country. This is a unique opportunity for Western breeders to acquire new genetics for your flock! We are pleased to welcome Dr Kreg Leymaster, a well-known Animal Research Geneticist with the USDA, as one of our speakers. He has done extensive studies of Hair Sheep breeds as easy care sheep and has lots of interesting data showing how Hair Sheep fit into today's breeding programs. You will also hear Dr Woody Lane, a Livestock Nutritionist who has worked with ranchers in the US, Canada and New Zealand. He teaches classes in animal nutrition, forage and pasture management and runs a livestock consulting business. Dr. Charles Parker, sheep geneticist and Professor Emeritus, Dept Animal Science, Ohio State University has agreed to speak. At the North American Hair Sheep Symposium he spoke on what to look for in selecting and evaluating Hair Sheep. Other planned presentations include: • Parasite control • FAMACHA training • OPP • Marketing • Haircoat inspection Activities include: • A tour of the Oregon State University Sheep Farm Tour of a working sheep ranch • Classes on Friday and Saturday Sale on Saturday at noon. And of course lots of good food! All events will take place at the Benton Co Fairgrounds. The fairground has a good RV Park with showers and hookups. Tent camping is also allowed. There are several hotels nearby.
