Guest jackieandryan
Rylee ate either a huge mouse today or a small rat. We have 2 cats that live in a building on our property that have a tendency to behead mice and leave their bodies lying around, so I am pretty sure that is what she ate. I saw the back end sticking out of her mouth and tried to get it away from her, but she ran from me and swallowed it in a matter of seconds. We don't have rat poison out. Rats/mice aren't known to carry rabies (she isn't old enough for her rabies vaccination yet) I called the vet and they told me to wait it out and keep an eye on her. Has anyone experienced this with a young puppy before?
Bill Fosher
My dogs eat mice all the time. Yummy crunchy snack.
KathyF
I wouldn't be too concerned since you don't put any poison out. It should just be digested like any other food and pass through her system. Kathy
Beach BCs
I wouldn't worry about it. It'll come out one end or the other! Georgia eats "small game" quite frequently.
Guest jackieandryan
She has a nice sized bulge on her left side today. Could this be the mouse/rat working its way through the digestive system? Are dog's stomachs on the left side?
Guest jackieandryan
I think I just answered my own question. But can it take almost 3 days for a puppy to digest a mouse?
