KathyF's Achievements

Newbie (1/14)

  1. No not red and blue. The blue is a dilution of the black dog. Lilac is a dilution of the red/chocolate gene. Not that color matters to the sheep.
  2. Our 12 1/2 year old dog was born with a PDA. He was over a year old when the University was able to perform the procedure for him. He has lived a normal life since then. He worked sheep for my husband and he was able to trial him some in novice. Our Stryker did dislocate his hip and had to have two surgeries to correct that. But he is still going strong at 12 1/2. Please feel free to ask me any questions. We didn't have to keep him quiet after his procedure as he did not have open heart surgery. The procedure they did for him involved going into the femoral artery and feeding a device up to his heart and then inflate this balloon type of a device. Kathy
  3. My 12 1/2 year old girl gets 1/4 of 60mg Proin 3 times a day and also gets one DES every 5 days to control her incontinence. She weighs about 33-34 lbs. Any less than that and she will leak again. Kathy
  4. Thank you to both you and John for hosting these fun trials. It was a great learning experience for my young dog. It was a good way to get out for the first time in the spring. The lunch on Saturday was very good, I wasn't there for lunch on Sunday. Thanks again, Laura. Kathy
  5. Here the link to where you can get some info on the Kathy Knox clinic. http://www.sunshineobedience.com/docs/herdingclinic.html Kathy
  6. There are plenty of people in Iowa who could help you. There are also clinics with Kathy Knox in Council Bluffs and eastern Nebraska that you could attend to get some help. Kathy
  7. Thanks to Laura and Rissa for hosting the fun trial on Saturday. Rissa, lunch was great!! Thanks to everyone who helped. I was so pleased with the work that my dog did. It was great seeing everyone. I am looking forward to another one in the spring. Thanks again, Kathy

    Jim Chaffin

Jim Chaffin passed away the evening of Tuesday, November 8th, 2011. The local sheepdog community lost a great friend last night. Jim and Lola have hosted a wonderful trial the first weekend of October in the middle of Wisconsin for the past 6 years. They always provided a first class trial with very even sheep. Jim also kept track of the year end awards for the WWSDA. Jim will be missed by all of his friends and family. Thank you Jim. Kathy Flynn
  11. I have fed my sheep pumpkins every fall that we have used them for decorating. The bonus we had this year is that they managed to "plant" a seed and we got our own pumpkins this year. Once it is time I can take some pictures of them eating the pumpkins next month. Kathy
  12. In case anyone wanted to see Pete's obituary it is located here: http://www.keslingfuneralhome.net/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=1249929&fh_id=12468#.TmI5fI5ZjWM I never had a chance to meet him, but have heard many good things about Pete. Kathy

Laura- When I saw the title for this post all I could think of was shit, no, not Jaax. He sure was a special guy and I will say that both Pearse and Sam described him to a T. I remember many a time seeing him just leap over a fence and just bring those sheep in. He was one of the great ones. We are both so sorry for your loss, Laura. Kathy and Steve
