Below is the announcement for an arena trial at John Lavelle's beautiful farm in East-central Ohio. John is a terrific host, the FFA provides a great concession stand, and the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. Since this is an indoor trial, weather is not an issue (heated when it's cold!), there are camper hook-ups for $10 a night, stabling for horses (as there are Open Cattle Horseback classes), and a real rest room! The obstacles are challenging and the stock suitable for good handling/dog work at all levels. Classes are time and points.

The Buckeye Cow Dog Association, Inc. will host the Third Annual Choc Ericsson Memorial Cattle Dog Trial beginning Friday evening, November 16, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. with a USBCHA sanctioned Horseback Cattle Class. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be three additional sanctioned Open classes each day. (One Horseback and two Open foot classes each day) One sanctioned Nursery Cattle Class will also be offered each day. There will be no sheep classes at the November trial however. Entries are now open and an entry form can be downloaded from www.buckeyecowdog.com

The October trial was a great success with entries from Canada, Wisconsin, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana, Penn., and Ohio. Results will be posted soon.

Camper hook-ups, horse stabling, indoor rest rooms and a heated viewing area will be offered at the trial at the Rafter L Bar Arena in New Marshfield, Ohio.

The trial is open to all breeds of dogs and all levels of handlers.

I'll be there

It's always a fun time at John's, lots of great people. Also, Gary Ericsson is having a clinic there before the trial- on the 15th and 16th. The working spots might all be taken but there's plenty of room for spectators.
