Deacon Dog
Is this the same thing as selenium? Reason I ask is Sheep Nutri-Drench contains sodium selenite, and I was wondering if dosing with it provides supplemental selenium.
Rebecca, Irena Farm
This product does provide a small amount of supplemental selenium. It's basically provided at a level to "balance" the small amount of "nutrition" that Nutri-Drench offers. If you are still using the Ration Maker mineral, what Nutri-Drench provides in the way of selenium doesn't even hold a candle to that. There's also no real danger of ODing unless you are way overdoing the recommended dose AND the sheep is consuming a lot of Ration Maker. Bill Fosher
Sodium selenite or sodium selinate are the minerals usually used to provide selenium to sheep. IIRC, the former is more readily water soluable.
border colliez
We get sheep salt, at our feed store, made especially for them, it contains selenium, they seem to be doing very well on it. Couldn't tell you, offhand, who makes it. Our sheep look like a Revlon ad, they all have pinkish lips - LOL!
