This announcement is for both the sanctioned Open Cattledog (Nursery also for Cattle) and Sheepdog trial as well as the Gary Ericsson Stockdog Clinic to be held at John Lavelle's Rafter Bar L farm near Albany OH (east central Ohio). John has a nice indoor facility with the local FFA providing good food at reasonable prices, as well as camper hookups at the trial site. The Buckeye Cow Dog Association is a fun and friendly group of people.

Over 140 entries were received in the October Buckeye Cow Dog Association's stockdog trial which featured both sheep and cattle classes.

The next trial is November 17-19, 2006. A USBCHA sanctioned Nursery Cattle class will be held on Friday evening November 17, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. This will be the only class on Friday.

On Saturday, two sanctioned USBCHA Open cattle classes, a sanctioned USBCHA Nursery cattle class, a Horseback Class, and a Ranch and Novice Cattle Class will be offered. The same schedule will apply on Sunday. One Open USBCHA sanctioned Sheep Class will be held each day. There will be no Ranch or Novice Sheep classes at this particular trial.

Camper hook-ups, on-site concessionsm a heated spectator area and indoor rest rooms are available. A Saturday night handler's dinner will again be offered by the local FFA alumni chapter.

There is a 50% payback of all entry fees received in each class through five places in the following percentages 1st 30%, 2nd 25%; 3rd 20%, 4th 15% and 5th 10%. Ribbons and prizes will also be awarded. All classes will be "points plus time" and held indoors at the spacious Rafter L Bar Arena in SE Ohio. 535 cwt cattle and polypay cross sheep will be used. The timed course will feature 7 obstacles. The trial is open to all breeds of dogs and handlers, but it is filling up fast! Post entries will only be accepted if time permits. Horseback participants must make arrangements for their own horse. Stalls are available by request. BCDA will be eligible for points toward the year-end high point awards. Membership is open to everyone, but one must be a paid member before competing to accumulate points. The trial is open to everyone however.

Entry forms, directions and other information can be downloaded from www.buckeyecowdog.com or www.lavellefarms.com

Also, on Thursday and Friday before the trial, Oklahoma trainer Gary Ericsson, www.garyericssoncowdogs.com will be conducting a stock dog clinic. Spectators are free! If you have not yet paid for a working spot, call me for availability as the clinic is nearly full.

A general meeting of the Hangin' Tree Cowdog Association will be held on Thursday November 16, 2006 @ 6:00 p.m.
