pastora
Is a McNab a strain or line of border collies? Or are they separate from BC's? My husband and I ran some years ago to work cattle but I never did understand the difference and don't recall getting a really straight answer. Ours looked like short haired, prick eared BC's then some would be black and tan, short hair, bobbed tail, hanging ears.... Where did the McNab name begin? Thanks! Covelo Dogs
The McNabs originally were from Ukiah, California. The were bred to work the steep hills and able to take the hot dry summers. The family, McNabs, imported dogs from Scotland in the 1800's. Most of the dogs in my area are McNabs and BC X McNabs. Used for cattle. You could attempt to Google McNabs. Somewhere on the web is the history of the breed. Hope this helped, Suki
