RoseAmy
Happened upon a dead lamb today no ewe was around it. It was left in a corner, head was out of the sac, I quickly grabbed it and tried to revive it but it was too late. The funny thing was the umbilical cord was bright yellow and very thick. Have never seen anything like it. It was a good size lamb so I'm quessing it was full term or at least near full term. I located the ewe, one of my best mothers which has left me even more confused as to what happened. Can anybody explain this yellow umilical cord? Bill Fosher
Could be due to one of the abortion diseases. I'd isolate the ewe ASAP and watch the others carefully.
RoseAmy
Thanks Bill thats what I was worried about since this ewe has never had any issues before. Luckily all lambs born before and since have been fat and healthly with no problems. I've got my fingers crossed that this was a fluke.
