Guest Amanda
Make sure, training at home, that your dog can do big complicated outruns. He should lift as though he means to manage his sheep. He should be pliable in his fetch—capable of dog legs. He should drive a bigger distance than you will be expected to do at the open trial. He ought to be proficient at shedding. He should be prepared for all phases of work—all of which are required of an Open Dog. All your training will be steering that way. Get him ready at home. Do like a good scout and be prepared. Boy scout up.
