Sue R
One of the North America's largest, oldest, and most prestigious sheepdog trials is less than two months away. Held in beautiful Masterson Station Park in Lexington KY, the Bluegrass is a trial that has been described by a well-respected UK handler/judge as the equivalent of any National-level trial in the world. The Bluegrass consists of two two-day USBCHA-sanctioned Open trials; four USBCHA-sanctioned Nursery classes; two classes each of Ranch, Pro-Novice, and Novice; and a Double Lift International Shed Final on Sunday with the top 20 teams (by combined score from the two Open trials) competing for the Championship. The sheep are fresh sheep and challenging. The fields are scopey and testing. Handlers come from all over the United States and Canada, and even from overseas to compete. Dog/handler teams may include National Finals winners, Canadian Finals winners, World Championship competitors, ISDS National winners and International Supreme competitors. You will not see a better competition anywhere. Any trial does not happen in a vacuum, and a trial like this requires a small army of volunteers and sponsors. You can help be a part of the Bluegrass in a number of ways. You can volunteer to help. No experience is needed. Volunteers are greatly appreciated, and there are many different volunteer slots to be filled. There is something suitable for everyone.
