WyoBC
I took Black Jack out with me to walk up the hay field today before supper and he was as happy as could be. I always keep a close eye on him when ever we're out walking. I got back in and fed him supper, gave him his meds and went into the house for a minute. I went back out to the porch about five minutes later to see if he was all done eating and he was waiting for me by the door like he always does. He jumped up on his crate to lay down, and about five minutes later he started whining when ever I touched him. I thought it was really weird but sometimes he gets flash backs from before I got him so I gave him a few mintues to feel more safe and called him to me. He just had a blank stare at the wall, and didn't want to come to me, or even look at me. So I called the vet and they said to bring him in. (I'm thankful that they have an emergency number to call) She checked him for about fourty minutes to find something but she couldn't. She said it was probably gas, or an upset tummy. I have to watch him tonight and if he's not better by morning they'll take some x-rays and a blood test. I'm so worried about him. He seems to be resting now, he'll wag his tail and lick my hand. He wouldn't do either before. So I'll see how he is in the morning.
quicksilver
Hope he's better soon and that the vet manages to get to the bottom of it.

WyoBC
I thought he was better this morning when I let him out of his crate but after I fed him he started to go back like he was last night. I don't think his stomach is upset because he still wants to play. I haven't talked to the vet yet today. I'm really worried about him. I just want to know what's wrong. I'll keep an eye on him to see if he gets any better and I'll talk to the vet later this morning.
Guest TheRuffMuttGang
How scary! I hope you figure out what it is and that Black Jack is feeling better soon.
bcnewe2
I was wondering how you know he's having flashbacks of his time before you? Not that I think it's related but just wondering. Did he eat or chew any thing while out walking? Have you checked his teeth or mouth? I've had dogs get sticks stuck in the roof of their mouth and not be able to get them out. Did he eat his dinner regularly? Have you seen him go potty since coming back from last night? So many things it could be. Good luck and keep us posted. doubleofarm
Do you have tick bourne diseases in Wyoming? Almost sounds like symptoms of Lymes disease. We have it terrible in the northeast. Sometimes the dogs joints hurt really bad and they just whine and really don't like to be touched at all. Just a suggestion. Tina
Beth G
A.J. My phone is being retarded that is why half of the text's I sent you last night and today about Blackjack, didn't go through and so I had to re-send them. And even after I resent them I'm not sure if you got them or not...lol. But I hope that Blackjack is feeling all better, and that if he isn't, that they can find out what is wrong with him soon. Hey that's true. Maybe you can ask your vet to test him for tick disease?

WyoBC
Well so far tonight he seems to be getting better. The vet had me give him some more Rimadyl to see if it would help. He's almost back to his normal self now. I might ask to see if they'll run a test on Lyme disease though. That's a good idea. I have had so much stuff running through my mind the last two days I'm just so relieved that he's almost back to normal now. He gave me lots of kisses when I did chores tonight, and after his supper he kissed me on the nose I'll have to see how he does tomorrow. He doesn't chew that much most of the time, but I did check his mouth, gums, nose, ears, and his eyes. I didn't find anything though. The vet checked pretty much everything and she said he was really healthy as far as she could tell, except that his back was kind of sore. She said if he wasn't better today they would run some blood. As for the flash backs, sometimes if you move wrong or if you do something that reminds him of before he'll cower down for a minutes or so. But he's getting better and better about it.
