sea4th
I just spoke with Dr. Knox. The surgery was well over two hours. My head is spinning with all the info, so let me apologize up front about sketchy descriptions, etc. My knowledge of orthopedic stuff is minimal. The femur head went back into the socket OK. He had to drill a hole in the femur head and insert a toggle (?) He then looped something through there, kind of like threading a needle. There was a torn ligament above the hip, but that's not what keeps the hip in place. Bottom line, is that Puck has a lot of hardware in him now and the cost is going to be at the upper end of the estimate, since it took such a long time and was so involved. Puck is staying there all weekend and I'll be seeing him tomorrow (another of my boys, Joe, isn't feeling well, so while we are there, I'll pay Pucky a visit). Dr. Knox said he's done a lot of this type of surgery, and although he said that there is no guarantee with these things, he is very pleased with the outcome and feels that we really shouldn't have any problems. If all goes well, his name will change from Pucky F#$*y to Lucky Pucky. I'm really greatful for all of your support. :0))
Allie Oop
Glad to hear it went well, Vicki. Sorry it was such a long ordeal for the poor boy, however. Hopefully, contributions will continue to come in to help pay for the rest of the surgery. Hang in there! Best wishes,
Kyrasmom
Good for Lucky Pucky and hope that once he feels better he still gets the occasional F***y Pucky. It usually means they're happy...and we're not! Maria
WyoBC
I'm glad everything went good with Lucky Pucky. Hopfully it will all turn out good for him, and you. Give him a hug from me. Tell Joe to get better too.
