BustopherJones
I did not want to bother the members of this board with my problems, but Annie took very sick last week and has been at the vet's under a virtual 24-hour watch. (The staff at the vet's love the little rascal, and volunteered to take turns and come in and check on her regularly over the weekend, even through the nights; the vet also came in on both Saturday and Sunday to continue to examine and monitor her.) She was having severe problems with her digestive tract; I will not go into the indelicate details. Apparently, Annie has a very delicate stomach. DW underwent knee replacement surgery several weeks ago, and whereas I cannot get home from work to take care of the dogs during the day, Annie spent the week with the vet and came home on the weekends for the first few weeks while DW was in a rehabilitation center. This apparently created stress, which led in turn to the digestive problems. She had some problems on and off during the period, but it became particularly severe last week. The vet first ran a barium scan, and found no blockages (thank goodness!); she conducted a 12-hour fast, then put Annie on a special food and two medications. It appears that Annie responded well; the vet called this morning and told us we could come and get her today!!! She will be on the special diet and medications for a while (an expensive proposition, but we will manage somehow). Now maybe I can start getting some sleep at night; it has been miserable trying to fall alseep at night without my "baby" lying on the bed until DW retires for the evening... juliepoudrier
You shouldn't worry about "bothering" us with Annie's problems--this community is here to support one another. I'm glad to hear that she's doing better and is coming home today (so you can have your little bedwarmer back!). I hope your wife recovers quickly as well. J.
