WyoBC
I am getting so excited about the clinic! It's only two short days away Black Jack goes to the groomers tomorrow to get all clean and good smelling. (He can't wait) The weather looks pretty good. It's supposed to be in the 70's Tuesday, and in the 50's Wednesday. But maybe rain Wednesday afternoon. I'm just thankful that I get to work with Black Jack at least once a day. I got a (doggie) bag ready to take with me since I'll be there all day. I thought I might need some stuff. So far I have treats, a blanket, some toys, extra leash, extra water, water bowl, some food, a brush, folding chair, and an extra shirt for me. Can you guys think of anything else? I'm sure I'll forget something I always do. Oh and I have my camera too. I get to meet Jack Tuesday morning around 7:30 am. The clinic starts at 8:00 am. The owners even get lunch both days, and treats all day long. YAY!!!
Beth G
Lol...poop bags and sunblock? Pop? Hope you both have a great time!
Sue R
Forget the groomer, but don't forget to take a notebook because you will want to remember more than you possibly can. Jack is great! Best wishes!
Kelliwic Border Collies
Forget the groomer, I second what the others have said and especially this! Reschedule the grooming appointment for after the clinic.
Maizy
I would take a crate or a means to confine Black Jack when he is not working. Also, an extra leash as Sue can tell you...I had to borrow one from her a couple years ago when Tess decided she didn't want to be anywhere near the sheep and almost chewed free. I would also forget the groomer if you haven't already taken him...he is probably going to get really dirty!!!! Have a great time. I get to see Jack next weekend again...I can't wait either!! ShoresDog
Daisy says, "Don't let them clean you up too much! When I go to sheepherding lesson, I hate being sparkly white compared to the real working dogs!" Seriously, have fun and take good care of Black Jack! bcnewe2
My suggestion would be not to bring to many toys. No playing fetch while there unless you can get far away from the others. I wouldn't feed BlackJack untill after you have your turn, unless you feed him way before. And I totally agree with the rest of the group. Skip the groomers, or do it after! Real sheep dogs don't do clean! At least not while working sheep! Are you going to a Jack Knox clinic? He's the best! I'm going to miss his clinic in our area. Don't know who's more bummed, me or Mick! Most of all....Have a great time! Kristen
WyoBC
Well I already took him to the groomers this morning but he's pretty dirty again anyway. I guess I should have thought about him being clean before. Oh well. He'll forgive me, as long as the other dogs don't laugh at him I'm so nervous I'm just trying to do everything right, and be ready. I'll have to get more poop bags, since I don't need to many out here in the country. I don't plan on playing much anyway since I'll be watching everybody, and I'm sure he'll be happy watching everything too. I know I'll have fun, I just don't want to mess up. Wouldn't it be nice if you never messed up? Yeah right I'll probably feed him at least two hours before, if not more. I think I have everything now. If not it's almost to late. Thanks for all the help guys, I need all I can get. I'll tell you how it went tomorrow night when I get back.
Anda
Have fun and fill out that memory card, remember, the probability of ending up with few good pics increases proportionaly with the number of pics you're taking (well, in theory, at least )
bcnewe2
Words I've heard from Jack himself.... Why would you be coming to me if you or your dog were perfect already. Without seeing the "mess ups" at hand how can I help you solve them! That's my take on what he said anyways...when your first meet Jack you're lucky to understand every other word but in the end somehow it all makes since. I know more than a few people (including me) who come back from a Jack clinic saying LyeDune Laddie, with the accent right too! We figure if he can get them working that great, maybe if we talk like him it will happen for us too! Have fun! Kristen
