Dixie_Girl
So, here I am, getting the word out on the two sweet girls, and how wonderful they got their new forever home, and in a congrat e-mail from the PRBCR, they tell me about a lil pup that was found, and after a month, the people decided he was too much for them and their 4yr old! He is kept in the BY at all times, and when the lil girl goes outside, the pup is real mouthy with her and has drug her by the arm! He still has his baby teeth and judging from his pic he is probly around 4mos old. He has not been vetted so I will take him in on Fri. to my vet. After talking to the lady, he sounds like he just needs LOTS of trianing! She asked, "Are they always so hyper and mouthy?". LOL Well, yeah! I thanked her for going this route and not dropping him off at a shelter! I will be meeting her on Thurs. to pick him up. She says they call him Bently, and he sorta responds to it! I can't wait for him and Skip to meet! UGH! TWO juvinile delinquints! Oh, won't this be fun!! Here is a pic of the lil guy! ETA don't try to enlarge pic! It is way to big! I am going to see if I can get it down sized! Try this one instead!
painted_ponies
Yaaay! I've been peeking in at the boards all morning to see if you were able to get hold of this lady. I'm so glad things are going to work out for him to stay with you.
Maralynn
I want him! I want him! Something about the "juvenile delinquent" type appeals to me... Sounds like you're gonna have your hands full, Linda! I can't wait for pictures and stories Thanks for being available to take on the little guy! marky48
Folks need to do their homework before considering getting a BC. I know I didn't. I got my Riley at one of those mall pet stores..he was cute as a button sleeping like a baby. We were sold a bill of goods by the shop....their good family pets..quiet..etc.... $1000.00 later Riley was ours. He's 11 months old now and dear to our hearts. If I had to do it again....honestly I wouldn't. I've spent a ton of $$ on training, flunked puppy kindergarten and not done....but as I've told my wife...imagine if the everyday family with small kids bought him...he would be in a shelter by now. I kick myself for not going thru a breeder and getting the proper info on BC's.
MrSnappy
I kick myself for not going thru a breeder and getting the proper info on BC's. Or a rescue, which is also more than capable (and sometimes much better at) giving you an accurate picture of life with a border collie. I say "sometimes much better" because breeders come in many grades of "ethical" and some breeders, like pet stores, just want to sell you a puppy. Rescue just wants to make sure the dog is going to a lifetime home that understands its needs. Have fun with your new pup Linda!! painted_ponies
Oh, and Riley looks like such an angel. This lady says she just found this little guy as a stray, though - she didn't set out to get a BC. I expect BC could be a handful for the unsuspecting though. I'm lucky, since I live on a farm where there's lots of room to take the dogs out to play, and I don't have anything fragile like small kids - although my younger BC and I had a recent come-to-Jesus meeting about the cats. But welcome to the board, and good for you for perservering with your BC and not giving up on him. ETA: marky48, your post reminded me of this webpage The Truth About Border Collies You'll love this - it's hilarious.

WyoBC
That's great Linda. See you can't just quit fostering can you? Thanks for taking the little puppy in. There's to many puppies that are home less because the owners didn't "know" what a BC puppy can do. Of course they're going to nip and be mouthy some when they're a puppy. They're BC's Our Golden R. was worse than any dog we had as far as being mouthy when she was a pup. A those sharp little teeth
