al8dan
Hey all.... Would like some brain power to be used.... I will (all being well) be the happy owner of an 8 week Aussie boy by early April. I am having some difficulty thinking of a name that is a bit unusual but not weird. One name I like is Elliott but for whatever reason it just doesn't want to "stick". Dont know what his registered name is yet. his breeder had dogs going to Crufts and is a bit busy at the moment. But the affix is Armatan and he is a Red merle. Thanks in advance for ideas. I know its not a lot to go on but could be a start. Cheers Julie
Balian's_Mom
I tend to pull from literary references or movies, anything you particularly like? My BC is Balian, named after the main character in the movie Kingdom of Heaven (Orlando Bloom played him, hubba hubba!) often just refered to as "Bay". But I like kinda off the wall names where an explaination is involved!!
ShoresDog
One of my good friends in Connecticut lost his beloved golden retriever to old age. When he got a new golden puppy, he named it Elliott. I liked the dog, but I wish he hadn't named him Elliott, because that's MY NAME!! It's got too many syllables, anyhow. This may sound so simple it's dorky, but for a red dog, I like the name Red! Or maybe Ryder (short for Red Ryder).
sweetbc87
Leighton. (Lay-ton) I've always wanted to name something Leighton.
WyoBC
Congrats on getting the little pupper. I bet you can't wait. As far as names I have always liked "Wyatt" from the movie Tombstone (Wyatt Earp) but I also like "Echo", and for something simple "Buddy". I do like Ryder though, I think it would fit a red dog. What kind of movies do you like, or sports, etc. That's alway a good place to find a good name.
Meg's mum
I've been having dreams about a dog named 'Rook'. Seems like an Aussie name for some reason.

ShoresDog
Bundy is a little problematic in the US because of the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy! I like Byron.
rosefarm
My bad sense of humor, I like to name my pets human names. Here's some of my names that we use for instance. Archie, Edith, Margaret, Daisy, Lily though we do have a turtle (cat). There's just something about a dog named steve or frank that makes me smile. They are just people anyways. --Denise
Olivia
I like Cian, pronounced KEY-an. Enjoy your new pup. Pictures when he comes home please!!! Olivia
painted_ponies
I try to limit dog names to no more than two syllables - which I guess Elliott is, in my neck of the woods (Eh-yutt - the "l" is silent); so is Violet (Vah-lut), my dog's name. Region really does limit one's choice of names, as people named Jeremy no doubt discover after they move South and spend the rest of their lives being called Germy. One of my favorite dog names is Caleb - it means faithful.

Vickkers
We had a name all picked out for our red bc puppy ("Cayenne" to go with our other dog, "Pepper") but when we went to pick her up she didn't fit that name at all! She was so sweet and calm and gentle and snuggly; she wasn't a spicy dog at all... we waited a few days and after several attempts to eat the clover in our front yard she picked her own name Some of the male dogs in my puppy class have names including: Rowdy Manny Rusty Oscar Cowboy I also really like the name "River" for a male dog...but that's just my opinion. Good luck picking a name and congratulations on your new puppy!
Sherry Thoeny
I like Rusty for a red dog. Not very unusual I know.
Dalesred
What about Jasper? There's a comedian over here called Jasper Carrot and I always associate the name with red hair ( don't know why) Or Sydney ( since he's an Aussie!) Dalesred
or Roo (not original round here I know but Rhiw's name came from the place in Wales where he was born) your pup could be Roo for Red Rooster or Kanga - Roo
Barb Scott
Considering that your boy is an Aussie, the following are the 25 most popular boys' names in Australia (in descending order of popularity) based on 2005 census data Since Aussies are American, not Australian , you don't really need an Aussie name. When I had my Aussie (named Jenni), people would stop and say she looked just like their friend's, cousin's or uncle's neighbor's dog Blue. Maybe Red would be a good name. Seriously, you need to have the puppy before you name it. Barb Scott
