bcluver4life
I have just lost my beloved Jessie today. We had taken her to the dog park and she was attacked by a large black shepherd. Out of no where the dog had grabbed her by the stomach and tossed her around like a ragdoll, trying to kill her. My Dad made the move to get Jessie out of there before anymore damage could be done. He recieved three bite wounds in the process. Jessie was rushed to the vet. They did everything in their power to help try and save her. Though she was "breathing lightly." They got her back to being stable and she had surgery. She was asleep, yet throwing up coffee brown colored liquids. It came that even though she went to the emergency room and was under the watchful eye of the vet, she passed on. She crossed the rainbow bride peacefully even though her body was hurt. She didn't suffer any pain from it since she was asleep. We love and miss you Jessie. May you rest in piece.
MaggieDog
I read the other thread - I am soooo sorry that you have to deal with this, especially when such an incident could've been avoided had someone kept their obviously aggressive dog under control. People are just sooo stupid sometimes and it is just awful when the end result of their lack of responsibility is the death of an innocent. I hope AC can catch the people who own the dog that did this... ((HUGS))

Moss
This is a lovely poem - I hope it helps. Run free beautiful Jessie. **** I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me. Author Unknown
Rolf
What a sad day for you and Jessie. I cannot understand that owners of dangerous dogs do not have them (the dogs) under control. My thoughts are with you and I wish you enough power to overwind your too early loss. Rest in peace, Jessie.

WyoBC
I'm so sorry you lost poor Jessie. I know she meant so much to you. She was a beautiful pup. I can't put into words how sad I am, or even what to tell you to make you feel better. Except she'll always be with you, you were her special person and she'll never forget that If I can do anything just let me know. Give everybody a big hug. I thought this might help too. It has helped me a few times. The Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called rainbow bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to rainbow bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by.The animals are happy and content, except for onesmall thing; they each misssomeone very special to themwho had been left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenlyquivers. Suddenly he begins to rn from the group, flying over the green grass his legs carrying himfastr and faster. You cling to each other in joyous reunion never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upone your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyesof your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the rainbow bridge together.

juliepoudrier
I am so sorry this story had such an unhappy ending. Jessie will always have a place in your heart, and so she will live on. Words are inadequate at a time like this, but know that I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers. In time it will hurt a bit less, and you'll be able to remember your sweet little pup and smile. Hugs to you. J.

bcluver4life
The poems really do help and so does everyone's words. I had to stop myself from crying in the media center when I read all of this.

Sue R
I just read your original thread and this. I am so sorry to hear you lost your little pup. Please encourage your Dad to have his bites checked out to make sure he is okay and to document his injuries, along with the records your vets have of Jessie's as well. If you are going to pursue this and see that that irresponsible owner and hazardous dog don't cause any more harm to others, you will appreciate good records of what happened. When an old dog like our Mac passes on, it's sad. When a youngster is snatched early in life, it is a tragedy. We lost our Skye at six months suddenly and for no more reason than someone's carelessness (or worse yet, possible deliberate action). My daughter lost her beloved Jack at 10 months because of someone else's irresponsibility. We still mourn for them and miss them. I feel so sorry for you. What happened to your pup and your Dad was horrible and could have been avoided by someone doing the right thing.
