Jackson is missing!

Recommended Posts

I can hardly write this. Jackson is gone! My grandson has moved back with me. He has been around Jackson since we brought him home as a pup. He has always been good with Cody. Well, this afternoon, Cody took the garbage down to the burn pile and took the 4 BCs with him. It's not but maybe 200ft from the yrd. Then decided to run around with them. All of a sudden Skip was gone! So we got the other dogs back in the yrd and called and looked for Skip. Then Cody decided to take Jackson with him to see if he would lead him to Skip. Then Jackson took off in the woods and Cody yelled for him but he wouldn't stop! Then Skip shows up. So we had all but Jackson in the yard. We have walked, yelling and calling for him and nothing. We went down in the woods with the flashlight, and nothing. We just got back from driving down the road. Nothing. I know Jackson. IF he could come back, he would. I heard a gun shot a while after he was missing. I am so scared. I don't know what I will do. Please just pray that he is okay, or at least not suffering.

OMG! Linda, I'm so sorry!!! I know you are stressed and worried, but don't borrow trouble and assume the worst (ha, like I wouldn't. ). Wish I wasn't the whole country away, I'd help you look. Do you have other people in the area who can help you look? Neighbors? I'll be thinking about you and Jackson!!! Hang in there!!!!

Thank you all. I left some water by the gate. The thing is, I know Jackson, and if he could come home he would have been back by now. Neighbors are few and far between out here. There is just acres and acres of woods. He could have been shot, or got hung up on something. I just don't know. Cody and I are going to see if we can track him from where he took off in the morning. I just don't know how to get through this. You just NEVER know when your dog can come up missing. I know now, they are never 100%. I never thought he would have taken off like that. I know he knew we were looking for Skip. Maybe he is just out there still looking for him.

Oh Jackson!

Hopefully he either gets home OK, or finds someone else to bring him home if he went to far, or you find him really really soon!

We will be thinking of him...

Linda, I'm so sorry he took off. He probably went to look for skip. I'm sure he'll come back, keep faith that he will. My prayers are sure out to you and Jackson. Tell me as soon as you hear anything. If I was closer I would help you look for him. Best wishes. God Bless

We were blessed with a happy ending to Ben's adventure and I have confidence that your prayers and those of your friends will be answered - soon! When Ben went missing, a friend called to remind me that her dog had gone missing for over two weeks and they only got information when they put a largish ad in their local paper with REWARD in big ol' letters and a pic of the dog.

For reassurance, most farmers I know don't shoot to kill if a dog is just passing through, even the crabbiest farmers. I know you hear some big talk but I see dogs trotting through pastures unmolested all the time. I freaked every time my dogs went under the fence into my neighbor's cattle pasture (my guard dogs go over there and take goodies from his "dead pile"), until I mentioned it one day and he shrugged and said he didn't care as long as they didn't mess with the calves.

Note: not to say it's OK or smart to let dogs roam loose - just that Jackson's biggest peril is more likely to be cars on the road or being mistaken for a dog with no home.

Please let me know if I can do anything. I can make up a nice flyer for you if you need it. Ben's flyers made him so famous that I'm still getting people stopping by, when we are out front working, to congratulate me on his return. Julie came and went door to door with them, too - that was a huge help.

OMG I am so sorry and worried. Can you possibly go to where you heard the gunshot come from? Maybe see if he is there? Maybe he was chasing an animal a hunter was hunting? I hope you two are reunited soon!

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I wish I could help you look for him, but crossed fingers and toes etc will have to do . Best of luck!
